Since 2007, I have been fortunate enough to be able to host my own radio program on Melbourne's 94.1FM, 3WBC. 3WBC is a community broadcaster based in Box Hill in the eastern suburbs, with a signal strength capable of reaching a good majority of the Melbourne metropolitan area. We also broadcast live across the world via our internet stream at www.3wbc.org.au.
The program is called Radio Ga Ga - the name obviously inspired by the song released by Queen in 1984, which peaked at number 3 on the Australian charts.
Radio Ga Ga focuses on music from the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's and includes monthly segments Look What They've Done To My Song (a song that has been recorded by two or more artists), the Barry Crocker (rhyming slang for "shocker" - a song that made it to the Australian charts despite being dreadful), The Sixties Trip (three songs from the 1960's with a common theme), Five of The Best (five songs with something in common) and Dead Set Legend (an opportunity to acknowledge of the great artists or bands from Australia's rich history of outstanding music).
The program goes to air at 3:00pm Melbourne time on the fourth Sunday of every month.
For more information, please visit the Radio Ga Ga web site - www.radiogaga.org.au
In addition to Radio Ga Ga, I am hosting The Fifth Saturday. This program is scheduled at 11:00am whenever there are five Saturdays in the month. This means that there are only about five programs per year but it gives me an opportunity to play some great music that doesn't fit the Radio Ga Ga playlist.
Finally, during 2012, I have been added to 3WBC's award-winning VFL Football commentary team. Our radio station broadcasts live calls of every game featuring the Box Hill Hawks in the Victorian Football League, typically on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon between April and September.
We have a great deal of fun calling the action, reporting the statistics and providing interviews with players and coaches from the Box Hill Hawks and their match day opponents. If you love your footy as much as we do, you'll love listening to our coverage.
94.1FM 3WBC - we are your community radio station and voice of the inner east.
